From Parowan, follow State Road #143 south approximately 3 miles to FR #049. Turn east and follow #049 past Vermilion Castle toward Yankee Reservoir. About I mile before Yankee Reservoir, a small road heads east across Bowery Creek, follow road about 100 yards beyond Bowery. Trailhead is at 8,440 feet.
DESCRIPTION:
This trail was used as a jeep road but has been closed to vehicles over 42" wide. The trail is" steep in places and has been water barred to prevent erosion. The trail winds back and forth through spruce, fir and aspen. Visibility is poor because of the heavy timber. There is, however, a spectacular view at the top of the trail along the huge rock rim dividing drainage, and looking into Yankee Reservoir and Vermilion Castle.
